The Nothing Between Us
“In real life, people can see something happen between two people and say, ‘It’s nothing.’ In a movie that ‘nothing’ becomes an entire movie.”
–From Love Dog
Sometimes in a movie, it really is nothing happening between two people, and it’s still very much something. I love the dance of significant glances, all of them missed, that Frida and Mia send each other early on in Kiss Me. I love the look that plays across Frida’s face as she observes Mia with Tim.

It’s an entire sad story of yearning played out across just 15 seconds.
I think some of the biggest somethings in my life are nothings.
