As it breaks, the summer will wake
But the winter will wash what is left of the taste
As it breaks, the summer will warm
But the winter will crave what is gone
Will crave what has all gone away
This song of emotional weather. I’m reminded of how Kate Bush, in “Hounds of Love,” sings that “there is thunder in our hearts.”
The complexity of these feelings. The places his voice goes to and comes back from. The things he does with his body language. Like he’s talking to you. Like he really, really wants you to understand what he’s talking about.
And these are days of heavy weather.

murderblonde said: I’m so fucking helpless for Future Islands. The performance, the sound, the lyrics. I’m especially a lyrics nerd, for what they do with homonyms (phones)? “Don’t cast away/don’t cast away/don’t let them/cast a role for you” I first heard that and SCREAMED with delight
